Medicine and Healing in the Age of Slavery will take place on the campus of Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Conference Venues
Shuttle service will be provided between the Wyndham and the conference venue at Rice. Shuttles will be marked with the Wyndham hotel logo and provide service between the front door of the hotel and the Humanities Building at Rice on this schedule:
- 2/23/18 from Wyndham to Rice, depart at 12:15pm with arrival by 12:45pm
- 2/23/18 from Rice to Wyndham, pickup at 9:00pm
- 2/24/18 from Wyndham to Rice, depart at 7:45am with arrival by 8:15am
- 2/24/18 from Rice to Wyndham, pickup at 9:00pm
At other times, Lyft and Uber can provide direct transportation between the Wyndham and Rice (the Humanities Building is a good location for pickup and drop off). Alternatively, the Rice “BRC Express” shuttle, which runs 8am-6:30pm on Friday, has a stop about a 6 or 7 minute walk from the hotel that provides service to the heart of campus.

Travel to Houston
Houston is serviced by two major airports, Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Hobby (HOU). Rice University is located at 6100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77005. Public transportation does not connect Rice or the Wyndham hotel directly to either airport. Ride sharing services, such as Uber and Lyft, are common ways of getting into town from the airports. Additionally, SuperShuttle provides regular trips between both airports and the Rice/Medical Center area.
